Case Studies

In the 2017 plan for the MICE industry,Taiwan‘s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) continued its promotion of green MICE events and assisting businesses with implementing international standards. Coaching of the ISO 20121 event sustainability management system was expanded to supply chains. With our assistance, three MICE companies were able to pass their audits for ISO 20121 certification last year. The companies were Wei Dain Exhibition, Pico Taiwan, and O’YA Integrated Marketing Solution. Experiences associated with the introduction of systems related to ISO 20121 event sustainability management follow.

Scope : Consumer and themed exhibition planning, promotion, implementation, and fully integrated services

Event : Taichung Travel Fair

Wei Dain Exhibition Co., Ltd. belongs to Kuei Jung Exhibition Co. Ltd. In 2001, they entered into the Taichung exhibition industry scene and have been working hard for local development, developing a reputation for their excellent curatorial skills. The 2017 Taichung Travel Fair was the first consumer fair in Taiwan to incorporate the ISO 20121 standard. In addition to adopting a new electronic lottery system, encouraging people to use public transportation, and arranging special shuttle buses, Wei Dain Exhibition also organized three stamp collecting activities. These activities were split among the Taichung City Government booths that promoted the 2018 World Flora Exposition and represented aspects of economy, society, and the environment; the Genesis Foundation; and that of the organizers themselves. Visitors that completed the tasks at specific booths and collected three stamps won an environmentally-friendly prize. In this way, the organizers managed to incorporate learning into the activities.

Scope : Planning and implementation of event layout, venue, and commercial space design

Event : Taichung Travel Fair

O‘YA Marketing Solution and Interior Design Co., Ltd. is one of TAITRA’s decorating contractors. They operate in venues such as the World Trade Center, Nangang Exhibition Center, and the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, and assist domestic and foreign businesses with designing spaces for exhibitions held in Taiwan. Through their creative spaces and marketing events, they help businesses convey their brand values. O‘YA Integrated Marketing Solution assisted Wei Dain Exhibition with the public design and decoration of the Taichung Travel Fair, for example by having them use safer and more environmentally friendly materials for their installations. To reduce waste, foam core boards were not used and all lighting was changed to LEDs. They also offered suggestions for future booth installations. The O’YA Corporation also actively promotes green, environmentally-friendly food stands. Their creative designs have significantly increased the popularity of this initiative among customers. Furthermore, their office also pays attention to the physical and mental wellbeing of their employees. Through collaborations with local farmers, they are able to buy package-free produce and provide organic fruit for their employees every day.

Event : 2017 Semicon

Pico Corporation has been working in the exhibition design and engineering industry since 1970. In 1987, Pico International Taiwan Ltd. was founded and in 1992, they became the first company in the industry to be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Their main business deals with the design and construction of interior decoration and decor for museums and exhibition venues, as well as designing and producing signs and outdoor advertisements for event management projects. For 2017 Semicon, Pico’s main responsibly was the decoration of public spaces and the main exhibition hall. For these tasks, they used modular, environmentally-friendly materials and assisted customers with designing reusable booths and modular combinations, plus actively reduced the use of disposable materials. Senior executives within the organization showed support for the sustainable creative designs and proposals by rewarding employees who were able to actively participate. At the same time, their 360 degree online and offline services were able to provide comprehensive brand service programs.
