Green Booth Decoration Competition

2016

In 2016, MEET TAIWAN teamed up with the organizers of "Taiwan International Green Industry Show(TIGIS)" and "PV Taiwan", from presenting and promoting Green Booth Competition at booth allocation meetings before the show in order to enhance exhibitors’ awareness of green MICE and to publicize various associated green practices. This year, MEET TAIWAN offered bonuses as incentive and successfully inspired more exhibitors to register! The following are the best green booths selected from these two shows:

2016-1

Foundation of Taiwan Industry Service, the best green booth awarded at TIGIS, was a joint booth comprising 20 individual vendors. Decorations throughout the area consisted of modular, recyclable materials, and no partitions were set up between different vendors, resulting in an open and airy design that fully utilized the lighting which already provided by the show floor, thereby reducing the use of additional lighting. The three colors of blue, orange and green were applied to differentiate between sections, enhance visual effects, and allow visitors to quickly find the products they needed. The combination of practicality and aesthetics won unanimous commendation from the judges!

2016-2

The best green booth chosen out of all participating exhibitors at PV Taiwan was LeadFar Technologies Inc., a company that creatively powered the high-wattage lighting installed in its booth directly with energy storage devices for which it has acquired dealership rights. The remaining power supply needed had also been generated and stored prior to the exhibition using the solar panels on display at the booth. This approach of integrated product usage not only fully eliminated the need for additional power supply but vastly contributed toward product promotion, and moreover drew rave reviews from professional MICE decorators and designers!

2015

Besides venue operators and organizers, main sources of carbon emissions during the event come from both the exhibitors and decorators. Thus, as an incentive for exhibitors to build low-carbon, energy efficient booths by using green, eco-friendly concepts and furnishings, MEET TAIWAN in 2015 introduced an unprecedented "green booth" contest in partnership with TiGiS and PV Taiwan. The contest‘s judge panel comprised of representatives from BOFT, the Taiwan Exhibition and Convention Association (TECA), and green MICE advisors. During both TiGiS and PV Taiwan, judges visited each booth where they were briefed by its exhibitor on design concepts as well as materials used. After the final selection, the Green Trade ProjectOffice (GTPO) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute’s Green Energy and Environment Laboratories were announced as the winners of the "green booth" competition.

2015-1

Inspired by the notion of "sky-gazing through tree canopies," GTPO converted 20 booths into a sparkly clean, cozy display areas by using pollution-free, eco-friendly building materials (e.g., Kraft tubes), as well as reusable banners and light boxes, gradually reducing the amount of wood being used.

2015-2

The award winning booth by the Industrial Technology Research Institute’s Green Energy and Environment Laboratories at PV Taiwan was actually a joint project involving 17 different companies. Inspired by the show‘s "solar theme", it had a yellow, brightly sunny color scheme and was lit with energy-efficiency bulbs only. Instead of sticking to the conventional partitioning methods, this booth was divided into streamlined, modular spaces that allowed all 17 firms to display products separately and share a common meeting space. Visitors were also able to move around more easily, and the area was enhanced with foliage for an additional touch of green.
